December 25:
Honjo International Scholarship Foundation was established with the official approval from the Ministry of Education, Japan.
1997
Started to grant scholarship for the 1st term 17 foreign scholars.

1998
Started Honjo International Scholarship Foundation IBEAR MBA Scholarship at the University of Southern California.
1999
Started the Itoen Plant Tour in Shizuoka

2000
Historically 39 people were selected as new scholars.
Approved as Specified Public‐Service Promotion Corporation from the Ministry of Education, Japan.

July 22:
Former president Mr. Masanori Honjo passed away. Mrs. Teruko Honjo became the president.
2003
Alumni meeting was held in Korea, for the first time outside Japan.

Honjo-JMSA (Japanese Medical Society of America) Scholarship and Honjo International Fellowship and Scholarship In Professor Mitsuru Misawa, College of Business Administration, University of Hawaii (in short, UH Professor Misawa Honjo Fellowship) were started
Baseball team “Green Sox”was formed

The Japanese Student's Scholarship (for Domestic Graduate Students) program was started.
The currently granted students recorded 92 people, the highest.

JAA (Japanese American Association in New York) –Honjo Scholarship Program was started.

Kyoto Excursion Tour was started

Columbia University -Honjo Scholarship Program was started
Volunteer work after The Great East Japan Earthquake was performed for several times in Kesennuma City.

First HISF Workshop was organized.

Approved as Public Interest Incorporated Foundation from the Cabinet Office, Japan.

Third HISF Workshop was organized.
Started to give donation to the universities in the Tohoku area, as The Great East Japan Earthquake reconstruction support.
Young researcher promotion research grant program was started.

HISF bulletin Vol.1 was published.

To promote overseas studies for Japanese, the Japanese scholars for overseas studies count 25, the maximum.
Started collecting donations to support Nepal great earthquake reconstruction.

Ninth HISF Workshop was organized.

Tenth HISF Workshop was organized.

March:
Alumni meeting was held in Taiwan.
Started construction of dormitory that will be started by next year.
